Welcome to Mrs. Bui-Le's Classroom.  This year, 2011-2012, I am teaching 8th Grade Algebra Readiness, 7th Grade Pre-Algebra, and Math Intervention.   Students' success is my top priority.  My expectation for my students, as well as myself, is to try our very best for a great year of learning Math.

Classroom Rules
  1. Respect others and their belogings at all time.
  2. Come prepared to school with complete homework and materials.
  3. Do only class appropriate activities during class time.
  4. Be on time, honest, and cooperative.
  5. Put your best effort into your school work.

Work Expectation

All students will need a three-ring binder to use as a math notebook. In this notebook, students have sections for vocabulary, starters, notes, homework, and quizzes/tests. These notebooks will be graded at the end of each chapter.

Students will have some math homework every night to reinforce what has been taught that day in class. Homework and Math assignments need to be completed in pencil, on loose-leaf paper with a heading that includes the student's name, date, class, and assignment.

Assignments and Make-up Work

Homework assignments are generally graded on a 4 point scale.

  • 4 points: Homework is completed with maximum effort. All work has been shown, math assignments have been completed in pencil, and paper is labeled correctly with name, assignment and date
  • 3 points: Homework is completed with effort. Some work may not be shown OR paper is not labeled correctly OR math assignment has been completed in pen.
  • 2 points: Homework is completed with little effort or has only been partially finished.

Absent Work: Students will have as many days as they were gone to make up missed work for full credit. For example, if you are sick for two days, you will have two days after come back to turn in your work for full credit. It is a good idea to call a friend or look at the website for the homework so you won't have so much to do once you come back to class.

Late Work: Homework assignments can be turned in late for partial credit until the end of the chapter. Students will lose one point for each day late. Once we start chapter 2 in math, I will not accept any homework from chapter 1.
